Findlay Office - Weather Emergency Policy

Marathon is committed to the safety of our employees.  Employees traveling to and from work during weather advisory should use good judgment. The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office and the Findlay Police Department have developed and enforce a multi-level *Weather Emergency Policy. It is your responsibility to be aware of and to follow these guidelines.

A Weather Info Line at 419-421-8888, ext. 2424 has been established for Hancock County to hear a recorded weather message from the Sheriff’s Office as to the present road and weather conditions. You may also access the weather information via the Web site of www.hancocksheriff.org.  During severe weather or a storm, information on the Web site and on the recorded phone message will be updated as the weather conditions change.

If employees absolutely cannot make it to work during a Level 1 or Level 2 alert/advisory, they should inform their supervisor as soon as possible and also inform their supervisor at what time they might be able to report to work.  A Level 3 weather emergency is declared infrequently.  In the unlikely event of a weather-related closure of the Marathon office, employees are encouraged to listen to local radio stations WFIN (AM 1330) or WKXA (FM 100.5) for details. If employees are traveling under a Level 3 emergency and are stopped by a law enforcement agent, they may be asked to provide Company identification.

Should a Level 3 severe weather conditions occur during working hours, an announcement will be made over the public address system to inform employees.  Employees who feel it is necessary to go home should discuss this with their supervisor.

Informational Resources

In the event of a Level 3 weather emergency, employees are encouraged to access this Web site for additional information on the status of weather-related events; or, for those already in the office, check the Findlay Office NewsStand located on MaraView.  (Note: this is only updated in the event of a weather emergency.  For winter weather, this would be defined as a Level 3.)

In addition, you can also get the latest operating information for the Findlay Office Complex through the FOC INFO Line by calling 419-421-4200.

If you have any questions regarding these procedures, please contact your supervisor.
